Technology

At Painless Dental we utilise state of the art technology to complete all our procedures with accuracy, integrity, efficiency and quality. With a desire to keep you informed we have outlined below some of the commonly used technology in our practice, and a little about how this helps in facilitating our treatments.

Low Dose Digital X-Rays

Low Dose Digital X-Rays have surpassed their film predecessors, setting the new standard of dental x-ray technology. Using 90% less radiation they are a more accurate, safer and efficient technology, with the results available almost instantaneously on the overhead computer screen. This allows dentist to more accurately and efficiently detect and treat any potential problems before they advance.

Intra Oral Camera

The intra oral camera lets you see what your dentist sees while conducting a comprehensive examination. This small camera is mounted in a tube which is easily manoeuvred throughout your mouth, while the video is displayed live on the overhead screen. This gives you a more comprehensive understanding as your dentist can explain what they are seeing, and any treatment areas.

OPG

The OPG is a coveted screen tool that is highly effective in early detection as its increased accuracy allows it to detect problems that may have been missed with other radiographs. The OPG can be used to,

  •  Detect damage to the supporting jaw bones as a result of gum disease, decay or trauma.
  •  Help identify dental injuries such as broken bones or damaged tooth roots.
  •  Detect impacted or abnormally placed teeth.
  •  Detect cysts, tumours or abscesses resulting from certain dental conditions.
  •  Treatment planning for larger or extensive cavities, endodontics, placement of implants, orthodontics and tooth extraction procedures.

CEREC Dentistry

The CEREC machine is at the forefront of porcelain technology. With CEREC inlays, onlays, crowns, bridges and veneers can be designed, created and fitted at our practice and in a single sitting with greater accuracy and efficiency. CEREC works by taking an exact model of you tooth/teeth. Then following a series of precise digital simulations, a design is created by your dentist. Finally, a solid block of porcelain is inserted into CEREC which carves an accurate restoration while you wait. This allows you to walk out with a durable, strong and aesthetically natural restoration after a single visit.

Laser Dentistry

Laser dentistry can be used to complete a range of dental treatments in a more efficient, comfortable manner, reducing the necessity for anaesthetic. Combining laser energy and water, laser dentistry, also known as hydrophontics, also allows for a greater preservation of healthy tooth structure through its increased accuracy and less invasive methods. Laser dentistry can be employed in the areas of,

  •  Cavity Preparation
  •  Decay Removal
  •  Endodontic Treatment
  •  Periodontal Treatment
  •  Soft Tissue treatments

Microscope Dentistry

Microscopic dentistry permits your dentist to detect and see things that would normally remain undetectable to the human eye. This allows a greater level of detail and accuracy in many areas including general dentistry, endodontics, diagnostics and reconstructive procedures. Microscopic dentistry also benefits the patient as the enhanced images the dentist view are then projected onto the overhead screen so you can see what your dentist sees, increasing your understanding of your dental treatment.

Snap Dental Software

Snap dental software gives the patients an accurate preview of the finished produced of their treatment before it begins. As a detailed dental simulation program snap dental software can create fast, accurate and realistic simulations of procedures such as veneers, orthodontics, crowns, brides, implants, whitening and more. This lets you see how it will look before you commit to the procedure.
